How to make a simple and beautiful paper hot air balloon craftwork for children
This paper hot air balloon craft is perfect for kids who would like to make something they can play with after; it is also great because it uses up items that you already have around the house.
Things you will need:
Coloured or plain card (A4)
Toilet roll tube
- String or yarn
- Sellotape
- Scissors
- A ruler
Decorations (paint/ sequins/card)
Steps
- Cut your toilet roll tube in half (or shorter depending on how you want your basket to look).
- Decorate your toilet roll, you can paint it or use coloured pens.
- Use a ruler to mark out some strips, about 1.5cm wide and 12cm long. The number of strips you use is completely up to you.
- Arrange your card strips in a criss-cross pattern.
- Cut your string to the length you want it to be and attach it to your card strips with some tape.
- Attach your strings to the inside of your toilet roll .
- Make sure you have a weight at the bottom of your basket, so the strings pull down giving it that hot air balloon shape, we used plasticine.
I thoroughly enjoyed making this craft and was pleased with how it turned out, though I would recommend this craft for older kids, the end product, however, can be enjoyed by all ages.
