Fun paper snail with shapes art project for children
This shape snail craftwork is good for two reasons — First, it is a fun shape identification activity, and second, as a size activity. Notice how each shape snail uses only one shape and how the shell uses a variety of shape sizes! Most importantly, it is a fun, short art project that you can do in class or at home! Let’s get started.
Things you will need:
- Corrugated card / Cardboard or any hard card.
- Colors (paint, crayons, colored pencils)
- Glue stick
- Paper cutting tools such as a pair of scissors or knife. *Supervision is required)
- Some googly eyes or chinelle stems (a piece of card strip will work too)
Steps
Draw the biggest circle that would be the base of the snail. In this project, the circle used has a diameter of about 3.5 inches. Next, draw three smaller circles of varying sizes.
Cut them out and paint them. Wait until the paint is dry.
Fold the biggest circle into two symmetrical halves. Tuck some paper into it and glue it to keep it folded.
Stack the rest of the shapes onto it from the biggest to the smallest, and glue it in place. There is no right or wrong way. Use your creativity.
Finally, glue a piece of chenille stems to make the eyes. You could also use toothpicks for that. That is it. Share your project with us on our social media links below!
